Spices- according to a study in The Journal of Nutrition consuming a meal that contains about 2 tablespoons of spices can help lower triglyceride and insulin levels after eating a high-fat, high-calorie meal.

Orange Juice- the antioxidants in OJ may help lower free radical levels after eating a high-fat meal according to a study in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Fruit- consuming fruit, especially antioxidant rich berries and grapes, help reduce the damage caused by free-radicals that are released after over-eating.

Vinegar- a tablespoon of vinegar can help reduce blood sugar spikes after consuming a carbohydrate-rich meal. This is especially important for those with diabetes; the excess glucose can damage tissue over time.

Red Wine- enjoying a glass of wine with a heavy meal may be good for your heart. Rich in antioxidants, wine can help reduce the negative effects of high-fat food that are linked with heart disease.

 

Unhealthy Competition? Woman Roasts Six Guys in Turkey Eating Contest – Time

The Black Widow strikes again.  Competitive eater Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas, of Alexandria, VA. beat out the competition Tuesday to win a Manhattan turkey eating contest. Thomas consumed 5.25 pounds of meat in ten minutes, beating the rest of the competition by almost a full pound. The petite 42 year old currently holds 24 world records for competitive eating.
